Phases of the moon
There are EIGHT major phases of the moon.
Starting from New moon working to Waning crescent and then starting again at New moon. When the illuminated surface of the moon is getting bigger (shadow on the left) we say the moon is waxing. evaporation (1)
condensation (2)
transpiration (3)
precipitation (4)
run-off (5)
infiltration/percolation (6)
collection (7)
14
The water cycle explained
evaporation - (heating up of water by the sun to form water vapour)
condensation - (cooling down of water vapour, to form a liquid)
transpiration - (evaporation from plants)
precipitation - (water molecules become big enough to be affected by gravity and fall to earth)
run-off - (water that falls on hard soil and runs off the ground instead of seeping into the ground)
infiltration/percolation - (the water seeps into the earth)
collection - (underground water collects and reverts back to the ocean or lakes)
