Stopniowanie przymiotników

1. Podstawowe informacje

•Przymiotniki występują w różnych stopniach, w stopniu równym (positive), wyższym (comparative) i najwyższym (superlative)

• stopień równy (positive) to zwykła forma przymiotnika

Przymiotniki regularne

• Przymiotniki regularne to zazwyczaj przymiotniki jednosylabowe.

• W stopniu wyższym do formy podstawowej przymiotnika należy dodać końcówkę  „–ER”

• W stopniu najwyższym - do formy podstawowej przymiotnika należy dodać końcówkę „-EST” oraz przed przymiotnikiem postawić przedimek „THE”

• Przykłady

  •small - smaller - the smallest

  •warm - warmer - the warmest 

  •nice - nicer - the nicest                              

Przymiotniki

1-sylabowe zakończone na – e

• Przymiotniki jednosylabowe z końcówką -e stopniujemy poprzez dodanie -r w stopniu wyższym i -st w stopniu najwyższym. Przykłady:

• nice – nicer – the nicest

• safe – safer – the safest

Przymiotniki z końcówką –y

• Jeśli przymiotnik kończy się na -y, stopniując zmieniamy -y na -i:

• happy - happier - the happiest          

• easy - easier - the easiest

• pretty - prettier - the prettiest

Przymiotniki 1-sylabowe zakończone na spółgłoskę, samogłoskę i spółgłoskę

• Niektóre jednosylabowe przymiotniki zakończone na spółgłoskę, samogłoskę oraz spółgłoskę podwajają ostatnią literę.

• big - bigger - the biggest

• hot - hotter - the hottest

• Wyjątkiem są przymiotniki zakończone na w lub x. W tym wypadku ostatnia litera nie zostaje podwojona, a przymiotnik stopniuje się poprzez dodanie końcówek -er oraz -est.

• new – newer – the newest

Przymiotniki dwu i więcej sylabowe

• Stopień wyższy tworzy się poprzez dodanie przed przymiotnikiem słówka „MORE”, a stopień najwyższy „THE MOST”

• expensive - more expensive - the most expensive (drogi - droższy - najdroższy)

• Natomiast gdy chcemy powiedzieć, że danej cechy jest mniej, wtedy dodajemy "LESS" w stopniu wyższym i "THE LEAST" w stopniu najwyższym.

• interesting - less intresting - the least interesting (interesujący - mniej interesujący - najmniej interesujący)

Przymiotniki nieregularne

• good - better - the best                      dobry-lepszy-najlepszy

• bad - worse - the worst                     zły- gorszy-najgorszy

• far - farther - the farthest              daleki-dalszy-najdalszy

  far - further - the furthest         dodatkowy, uzupeniający

• many - more - the most                   dużo - więcej - najwięcej

• little - less - the least                      mało - mniej - najmniej

• old - elder - the eldest         stary - starszy - najstarszy (o ludziach)

  old - older - the oldest           stary - starszy- najstarszy (o rzeczach)

Porównania w języku angielskim

• Przymiotników w stopniu wyższym oraz słówka than (niż/od) używamy w celu porównania dwóch osób lub rzeczy, np.

• He is taller than his brother.

  
  

• Jeśli wskazujemy, że dwie osoby/rzeczy są takie same możemy użyć konstrukcji as ... as (tak ... jak)

• She is as beautiful as her mother.

• Jeśli dwie osoby lub rzeczy różnią się od siebie używamy konstrukcji

         not as …  as… lub not so ...  as (nie tak ... jak )

• I'm not as tall as my brother.
