What is Factoring?

Factoring is the process of figuring out what you can multiply 2 or more 'things' by to get an expression. Think about the number 12. One PAIR of factors for 12 is 3 and 4. We can multiply 3 and 4 together to make 12, which makes them 'factors' of 12. We can do the same thing with all kinds of different expressions, and for our purposes, quadratic expressions.
