Present Perfect Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan yang terjadi/dimulai pada waktu lampau dan sampai sekarang masih berlangsung, contoh :

I have lived in Surabaya since 1990

saya sudah/telah tinggal di Surabaya sejak tahun 1990

keterangan waktu : since (sejak), for (selama)

Present Perfect Tense bisa digunakan juga untuk menyatakan kegiatan yang dimulai pada waktu lampau dan hasilnya bisa dirasakan sampai sekarang.

contoh :

Ridhuwan dan Flametha have joined short stories writing competition (telah mengikuti kompetisi menulis cerpen)

Pola kalimat positive

S + Have/Has + V.3 + O/C

Soni has eaten lunch (hasilnya kenyang)

They have watched football for an hour (mereka telah menonton sepakbola selama 1 jam)

keterangan

Soni : Subyek

has eaten : Prediket (kata kerja)

lunch : objek

Pola kalimat Negative

S + have/has + not + V.3 + O

He has not eaten lunch yet ( dia masih belum makan siang)

bisa ditambahkan keterangan ''yet".
