  • It is a good way for the students to better understand an author's writing.

  • It is also a way for teachers to see if and how the students understand the book.

Steps in Writing a Book Report

  • Find your book or choose your book.

  • Read your book.

  • Then, write a book report.

Before you read your book, You should know what things you should look for.

Make sure you take notes!

  • Title - The name of the book. It is written in the front cover of the book.

  • Author - Who wrote the book?

  • Stage - Level

  • Type of book - comedy, adventure, drama, romance, horror, science fiction, biography, and others

  • Setting - when or where the story takes place

  • Characters - Who are the most important people (or animals) in the book? Describe their personalities? How they behave?

  • Plot - What are the main events of the story from the beginning to the end?

  • Themes - What is the main idea from the book? What are the big ideas or messages that the author wants or trying to tell the reader?

  • Reflection - What do you think about the book? Did you enjoy the book?
