Smoking

Smoking is one of the most harmful habits that a person can have. According to research, even e-cigarettes are harmful.

Not even the Mayans, the first people who smoked tobacco, could have predicted its popularity in the modern age. What they also could not predict were its hazards. The habit of smoking cigarettes has been proven to be the cause of many respiratory diseases and lung cancer.

Originally designed to be a healthy replacement to traditional cigarettes, e-cigarettes were developed in China in 2003. In 2007, they entered the US market and became an instant hit. However, researchers claim that e-cigarettes also contain carcinogens which can be as hazardous as those found in regular cigarettes.

There is still no firm proof of this, as the research is ongoing, but experts have urged people to avoid using e-cigarettes where possible.

Governments all around the world are trying to make smoking less popular. Strict laws are issued to prevent underage people from buying tobacco in supermarkets and convenience stores. Regulations ban smoking in restaurants, bars, clubs, etc. and in some cases, e-cigarettes are banned as well.

Authorities and experts believe that this course of action will make the habit of smoking less popular, and eventually socially unacceptable.
