Factors

Factors are numbers that you use to multiply. In the equation, 3 x 2 = 6, the factors are 3 and 2. Some numbers have more than 2 of them like 9. The combinations to multiply to get 9 are 1 x 9 and 3 x 3. Numbers that have more than just the combination 1 and themself are called prime numbers. 2 is a prime number because the only combination it has is 1 x 2. Numbers that have more than one combinations are called composite numbers like 4.
