How do we express what we need/want

to do?

We use 2 verbs together!

• A conjugated/changed verb AND​ an infinitive

A conjugated/changed verb:

• has an ending that shows who is doing the action

• is changed for a subject (yo, tú, él, ella)

• can show what someone needs/wants

• ​Examples are quiero, necesitas, quiere

An infinitive:

• is a simple form of a verb

• ends in -ar, -er, or -ir

• starts with to...

• ​Examples are comprar, ir, poner

How do we use these 2 types of verbs together in a sentence?

​Example: Quiero ir al mol.

• The conjugated verb comes first to show WHO wants or needs

• Infinitive comes after to show WHAT the person wants or needs to do

• Quiero conocer a nuevos amigos.

• Él necesita poner los libros en su mochila.
