The Earth

The Outer Planets

• Planets which are further away from the Sun - Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune

• They consist of hydrogen, helium and other gases

The inner Planets

• Planets which are closer to the Sun - Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars

• They consist of rock and metal

Predictions

• As the Sun grows old, its core will heat up.

• Sun - a red giant

• The Sun will "eat" all the inner planets

• As the Sun burns away its gases, it will shrink and burn out - in 5 billion years' time
