You have read two chapters from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe and the excerpt from Alice in Wonderland "Down The Rabbit Hole." We will now take time to compare two of the main characters, Lucy and Alice.

How did each of the characters' adventures begin?
Lucy began her adventure by deciding to explore the house after breakfast with her siblings.
Alice is sitting on a bank with her sister, bored and sleepy

Describe each of the characters' personalities.
Lucy is inquisitive and kind
Alice is inquisitive, but she often does things without thinking about the consequences of her actions.

How many siblings does each character have?
Lucy has three siblings. She has two older brothers, Peter and Edmund. She has one sister, Susan.
Alice has one sister. We do not know her sister's name from this section of the text.

How did the character find her way into an unknown land?
Lucy was curious about the wardrobe so she entered and walked back until she could hear the crunch of snow. She saw a light post and walked toward it, where she met Mr. Tumnus.
Alice saw a rabbit that was rushing in the field. She followed it down the rabbit hole.

How did the character feel about being in an unknown land?
Lucy was nervous. She even looked back as she entered to be sure she could still see the light of the bedroom.
Alice did not think about what she was doing until she was falling down the rabbit-hole. Then, she wondered how she would get out.

Alice and Lucy are alike in many ways. Alice and Lucy both enter an imaginary land one day when they are with their siblings and are bored. Both characters are inquisitive and meet an animal with human-like characteristics in their land. Alice falls down the rabbit-hole and eats food in the imaginary land. Lucy goes through the wardrobe, meets Mr. Tumnus, and has tea and food at Mr. Tumnus’ home. Both Alice and Lucy are intrigued with the imaginary land that they find themselves in and are interested in learning more about it.
