Columbus's First Journey

• On August 3, 1492 Columbus would set sail for his journey

• He was financed with three ships: the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María

• In addition to the ships, Columbus was supplied with around 90 soldiers and a 6 month supply of food and water

• Their aim was to land in the East Indies, islands off the coast of Asia

• After 70 days the fleet made land contact. However, it was not where Columbus had expected....
