Concept

Narrative text is writing that tells a story. A character is a person, animal, or other being in a story. Ending is how the story ends and why it ends the way it does. Plot is the events in a story. Setting is the time and place of events in a story. Strategic readers recognize and understand the elements of narrative text, which enhances comprehension and supports story recall. 

Characters

The characters are who a story is about 

Characters= WHO?

Setting

The setting is when and where the story takes places. 

Setting= When? Where?

Plot

The plot tells what happens. There’s a problem or goal. 

Plot== What? 

Ending

The ending tells how the story ends and why it ends the way it does. 

Ending= How? Why?
