Mormon Chapter 5

  • In the first verse, Mormon says "I did repent of the oath which I had made that I would no more assist them (his people)...for they looked upon me as though I could deliver them from their afflictions."

  • Read verses 13-15. Mormon tells us THREE objectives for the records of Nephi to come forth in our day.

3

Fill in the Blank

  • Read verse 6...Mormon is getting old, he knows this might be his last stand. He hides "all the records which had been entrusted to [him] by the hand of the Lord" in the hill at Cumorah. (see Ether 15:11)

Mormon 6:16-22

  • Take a minute and read these seven verses. In the United States, we have lost about the same number of people to Covid, but we have hundreds of millions remaining. In Mormon's time, there were only dozens of people remaining. In both cases, much of the pain and anguish of what people experienced could be prevented with humility and obedience to the TWO GREAT COMMANDMENTS.

I think it's pretty obvious how loving God and loving your neighbor could have helped to prevent the war and tragedy of Mormon's day. But how could it make a difference right now, today, in our day? What are things that you think that you can do in your family and in your community, so that you can avoid feeling the way Mormon feels when he says "o that ye had repented before this great destruction had come upon you." What can we do to obey the higher laws Christ gave us in our current, challenging circumstances? I WANT A REAL ANSWER. :)

Mormon Chapter 7...Mormon says goodbye

  • verses 2-5 Mormon tells us 1 thing we ARE and 3 things we must DO...there will be a quiz on this in a moment...

  • Mormon spends the rest of this chapter bearing his testimony about the divine role of the Savior

  • Read v. 7-8...these are VITAL missionary verses.
