Terms are variables and constants separated by a + or - sign.

Example: 2x + 3y - 2 + 5 - 4y

2x, 3y, -2, 5, -4y are all terms that are separated by + - signs

therefore this expression has 5 terms

2x + 4 = 6

• 1) First we need all the variables on one side and the constants on the other so we subtract 4 from both sides to get 2x = 2

• 2) Next we isolate the variable. Since, 2x is 2 times x we divide both sides by 2 to get x = 1
