What are names of Allah?

In Islam, God is believed to have 99 Names, known as the 99 Names of God, ʾasmāʾu llāhi l-ḥusnā. There is no universal agreement among Muslims as to what exactly counts as a name of God, and what does not.

What is Allah?

llah, Arabic Allāh (“God”), the one and only God in Islam. Etymologically, the name Allah is probably a contraction of the Arabic al-Ilāh, “the God.” The name's origin can be traced to the earliest Semitic writings in which the word for god was il, el, or eloah, the latter two used in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament).
