Not all poems have to rhyme! Free verse poems have no specific rules or patterns. They do not follow a rhyme scheme and have no specific rhythm.

A narrative poem tells a story, usually has a rhyme scheme, and can contain dialogue.

Lyrical poems sometimes express the thoughts and feelings of the poet. They have rhythm and rhyme, and may sometimes sound like a song.
