See, Think, Wonder
We have been studying about where our ideas and stuff come from. Think about the roses and coffee lesson. How can we use history, economics, civics, and geography to explain why things we use come from different countries? How do all 4 of these Social Studies parts have anything to do with how we get stuff we need or use? Does the geography or location have anything to do with transporting our stuff or ideas? What about civics studies about governments, their leaders, people's rules and interactions? History may also affect how we get things. History might involve how long something has been in an area or how long people believe they should or should not share. Or, history could involve conflicts or problems or natural disasters...or inventions or improvements. Finally using economics-how much does it cost? How much is there available? What about the supply and demand, the scarcity or price? Think about something you would like to have.. a want or a need something you must have. Where do these things come from?

So-after reading the roses and coffee articles in our Google Classroom....
Why do things we use come from different countries? Where do our ideas and stuff come from? Do you wonder what else we use comes from other places? What do we have that other people might want? How does supply and demand affect what people get? What are wants and needs? What if there is only a little bit of something in the whole world? What does that do to the price? Who would be able to buy it? What happens if governments do not get along and there is a natural resource that would cure a disease? How do people learn to solve problems when they do not live near each other or speak the same language? How can we transport these items? What is the geography like?

Conclusion
All that we have studied is also linked to jobs and how the world works. This is also linked to how people make money to live and buy what they need. Thinking about the roses story...one American student's college paper idea led to a huge change in the selling and growing of flowers all over the world. Jobs were created for farmers, web and internet, shipping and deliveries, people who arrange the flowers, people who buy from the farmers to sell in stores and online. There are more flowers and different flowers to buy. All of those workers used their money to buy clothing, food, shelter, and other things made by other people. They also bought services such as food prepared by others, took vacations where other people were working , and the ideas go on and on and on...imagine what all people buy or use everyday. You are using the internet someone created...do you think differently now about our questions?
