Apa itu "a, an, the " ?

"a, an, the" adalah sebuah article atau dalam bahasa indonesia bisa disebut kata sandang yang memiliki makna "SEBUAH". Kata sandang ini digunakan intuk melengkapi kata benda dan biasanya diletakkan sebelum kata benda. Misal : a book, an apple, the door.

PENGGUNAAN article A

• Digunakan untuk singular noun yang berawalan suara konsonan. Example :

• a book

• a chair

• a table

• a pencil

• a university

• a child

PENGGUNAAN article An

• Digunakan untuk singular noun yang berawalan suara vokal. Example :

• an apple

• an eagle

• an army

• an umbrella

• an axe

• an eraser

PENGGUNAAN article The

• Article the bisa digunakan untuk singular noun maupun plural noun. "The" juga digunakan untuk menunjukkan sebuah benda yang sudah jelas. Example :

• I open the window (aku membuka jendela)

• I sell the chairs (aku menjual kursi-kursi)

• Please, open the door ! (tolong bukain pintu !)

• I see a pencil on the table, the pencil is blue. (aku liat sebuah pensil di atas meja, pensil itu berwarna biru.

• Pada contoh yg terakhir, kenapa pada kalimat ke dua menggunakan THE ? karena pensil yang dibicarakan sudah jelas. Yaitu pensil yang berada di atas meja.
