The simple present tense is used...

1. for habits

i. She only eats fish.

ii. They watch television regularly.

2. for repeated actions/events

i. We catch the bus every morning.

ii. It rains every afternoon in the hot season.

3. for general truths

i. Water freezes at zero degree.

ii. The Earth revolves around the Sun.

4. for instructions or directions

i. Open the packet and pour the powder into hot water.

ii. Take the no.6 bus to Seremban, then the no.10 to Kajang.

5. for fixed arrangements

i. His mother arrives tomorrow.

ii. Our holiday starts on 26th March.

6. with future constructions

i. She will see you before she leaves.

ii. We will give it to her when she arrives.
