How to lay out the problem.

  • Ok so say you get a problem like this, 9 - 0.068. You wold lign it up like this,So me personaly, I would lign it up like 0.069 on top of 9.

  • Now say you are subtracting 2 decimals. You would do it like this, 5.34 - 4.11. you would set it up how the problem is given to you.

  • ON THE NEXT SLIDE WE ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT HOW TO SUBTRACT THEM.

How to do the problem

So you would lign up the problem how it is given or if it is a decimal problem with a whole number, whole number always goes under. So in a situation like this basicly the whole number would be the denomanator and the decimal number would be the numerator. And then you would just do regular sbtraction but ALWAYS bring down the decimal, don't count how many spaces are after the decimal just bring it down same for addition.
