What exactly is a phrase, a clause, and a sentence?

Phrase= a group of related words

Example: in the cage (prepositional phrase

Clause= a group of words with a subject and a verb (may not express a complete thought)

Example: when mom comes home from work (dependent clause)

Sentence= a group of word that expresses a complete thought

Example: When mom comes home from work she fixes dinner
