Physical Changes

• Physical changes do not change the composition of a substance, only the physical properties.

• There are two types of physical changes.

Change in State

• from solid to liquid

• from liquid to solid

• from liquid to gas

Change in size or shape

• shredding paper

• dissolving sugar in water

• wadding up a piece of paper

• denting a piece of metal

• stretching a rubber band
