Surat Al-Haqqah

Explanation

The tribes of Thamud and Ad are the first examplwe of al-haqqah.

Thamud lived in HIJAZ region of Arabia, and Ad lived in the Hadhramawt region

Both tribes reached the pinnacle of glory during their respective peroids, but they subsequently became sinners.

They received guidance from their rasuls ,but they rejected the truth.

The punishment of Ad and Thamud

When Ad punishment eventually fell upon them, it was strikingly stunning and devastatingly fierce.The Thamud known as the second Ad belied their rasul SALIH (AS) then they punished by an earthquake and violent blast of blast of volcanic eruption .

Introduction

The word Al-Haqqah refers to Awakening ,but it literally means "absolute reality".The absolute reality is Allah's (swt)way of bringing the quilty people and the nation to justice. They cannot continue to sin and transgress without facing the consequences on earth. Such justice occured in the past with several large and powerful nations and it can be happen again. More importantly, justice will happen on a large scale during the DAY OF JUDGMENT .The Day of Judgment is also an absolute reality from which no one can escape.Those who will be given their book of accounts in their right hands will be very pleased as they will enter Paradise .This will be a sign of approval of their faith and deeds.Those who will be given their book of accounts in their left hands will suffer punishment.This will be sign od disapproval of their faith and deeds. They belied the truth ,rejected their messengers.

Explanation

1. The title of the surah is derived from the word al-haqqah, which is mentioned in the first three ayaat.The root word "haqq" means "true ", 'just"and "that which is right"

When the particle "al"- is attached to the word the meaning emphasizes the certainty of an event.

Repetition of the word al-haqqah creates curiosity , suspense and tension.The repetition also shows that we do not have full knowledge about the realities of the events indicated by the word.
