In English, we can use too, enough and very with adjectives to indicate degree.

 

  • Too describes something negative or unwanted

  • Enough describes the right amount of something

  • Very makes the adjective stronger

Too

We use Too with adjectives and adverbs. For example:


He is too young to go to school.

It happened too quickly.

Too much

We use Too much with noncountable nouns. For example:


We have too much free time.

There is too much water in the bath.

Too many

We use Too many with countable nouns. For example:


It is bad to eat too many eggs.

My teacher always has too many things to do.

Enough and (not) enough

Enough comes after an adjective or before a noun:

adjective + enough

enough + noun


My handwriting is good enough.

His car isn’t fast enough.

We have enough food.

I don’t have enough money.
