What do we mean by subtraction?

According to the video: subtraction means taking away.

The symbol for subtraction is (-) we call it minus.

Subtraction is the opposite of addition.

Activity time

• quickly run to the kitchen, get 6 spoons, and come back

• now, take away 2 spoons.

• How many spoons do we have now?

• excellent!!!

• 6-2=4

• now you have 4 spoons left

• from those 4 spoons remove 3 spoons

• how many do you have now

• 4-3=1

Quickly run again to the kitchen and return the spoons before your mom gets angry ;)
