WHEN GRAPHING INEQUALITIES

• Negative Numbers: The bigger the number the closer to zero

• Positive Numbers: The bigger the number the farther away from zero

Solving Addition Problems

• Do the opposite of what is given (if it is an addition problem, use subtraction to solve)

• SAME SIGN SUM

• Open circle pointing away from zero

Solving Addition Problems

• DO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT IS GIVEN (subtract for an addition problem)

• Different sign difference

• Close circle covering the bigger numbers

Solving Multiplication Inequalities

• DO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT IS GIVEN (Divide for an addition problem)

• Must flip the symbol because you are dividing by a negative number

Solving Division Inequalities

• DO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT IS GIVEN: multiply by both sides of the inequality

• Do not flip the sign because you are not moving the negative number

• Answer is negative becasue a postive times a negative is a negative
