Making Comparison - Comparatives
We use adj + er than and more + adj + than to compare one thing with another.
For short adjectives, we use adj + er than
For long adjectives we use more + adj + than
For words (adj.) that end in a consonant and –y,: we change the y to i and add -er
Words that end in a consonant-vowel-consonant combination: Double the final consonant and then add er
If a word ends in –e, we add –r
The adjectives good, bad and far have irregular comparatives.
