coordinate plane: composed of the x-axis (horizontal) and y-axis (vertical)

Ordered pair: follows the format (x,y) and used for graphing

TIP: think of the negative and positive signs as directions! Negative means down or left, while positive means up or right

Today's Vocab:

Slope: how we measure the steepness of a line. The vertical (rise) over the horizontal (run) distance from one point to another

​

Rise: The movement up or down from one point to another point on the line

​

Run: The movement left or right from one point to another point on the line

There are 4 types of slopes to look out for

NOTE: Slope is also sometimes referred to as the "rate of change"
