Law of Exponents 

1.

 $\frac{a^m}{a^n}=a^{m-n}$  

 $E.g=\ \ \frac{2^5}{2^8}=\left(2^5\ \div2^8\right)\$ 

   = $2^{5-8}\ \ =\ 2^{-3}$  
               

2.

 $\left(a^m\right)^{n\ \ }=a^{mn}$  

 $E.g\ \ =\ \left(4^3\right)^5\ =4^{3\times5}\ \ =\ 4^{15}$  

3.

 $a^{m\ }\times\ b^{m\ }=\ \left(ab\right)^m$  

E.g =  $3^{2\ }\ \times\ 7^2\ =\left(3\times7\right)^2\ =21^2$  

4.

 $\frac{a^m}{b^{m\ }}\ =\ \left(\frac{a}{b}\right)^m$  

E.g =  $\frac{9^3}{3^{3\ }}\ =\left(\frac{9}{3}\right)^{3\ }\ =\ \left(3\right)^{3\ }=9$  

5.

 $a^{0\ }=1$
