Important definitions to remember

• Score - a written or printed form of a musical composition; parts for different instruments or voicings appear on separate staves on large pages.

Clef - A musical notation symbol at the beginning of a music staff. A clef indicates the pitch of the notes on the staff.

• Key Signature – Tells you which notes are sharp (#), flat (b), or natural in the music. Found in between the clef and time signature.

• Time Signature – Tells you the number of beats per measure and what TYPE of note gets 1 beat.
