You have probably seen this colourful poster on my music room door

Today we are going to learn about how these four notes in the treble clef spell 'FACE'.

We are going to do three things:

  • Learn why the treble clef is also known as the G clef

  • Learn to DRAW our own treble clefs

  • ...and practice READING four treble clef notes: F A C and E

The TREBLE CLEF starts on the second line up - it shows us the note 'G'

  • That is why the treble clef is also called the 'G clef'

  • The treble clef is used high instruments like violin, flute, recorder and trumpet

But how do you draw a treble clef?

Now try drawing your own treble clefs

  • You will need the pdf practice sheet (link on google classroom) and a pencil

  • Make sure you always start on the second line up ('G')

  • Good luck Year 2! When you have drawn some treble clefs please upload a photo to google classroom

Now let's read some treble clef notes!

NOTES IN SPACES

  • In the treble clef, the notes in the spaces spell 'FACE' as they go up

  • Remember to start from the bottom space

  • ...and here's a little song to help you remember 'FACE'
