A subordinate clause adds detail to the main clause.
You can add a subordinate clause by using subordinate conjunctions.

Subordinate conjunctions
Today, we are focusing on the subordinate conjunctions because and as.
Because - introduces a reason, e.g. The squirrel darted up the tree because it saw a fox.
As - tells us the time, way or how something happened, e.g. The birds chirped their morning song as the new day dawned.

If you were to assign each jewel an emotion, what matches would you make?

Pick three gemstones:
- Choose an emotion for each.
- Explain your reason for your choice.
- Use the subordinating conjunctions because or as.

Miss Davis's examples:
I think Citrine could represent fear because the orange is like a warning light.
I believe sadness could be represented by Sapphire as 'to feel blue' is to feel sad.
