4. What was the average time for the three runners from the United States? To find the average, you will need to add the three numbers up and divide them by three. Like this: 9.99 + 9.92 + 10.04 = 29.95 then divide by 3 = ? [If you have a number left over, its a remainder, which is an r. ]

5. In 1922, the world record for the 100 meters was 9.83 seconds. How much slower did the winner of the Olympic race run? This also uses subtraction, so take the best time from the Olympic race and subtract 9.83 seconds from it to find your answer.

6. In Seoul, U.S. runner Florence Griffith Joyner set a world record for women in the 100-meter run. She ran it in 10.49 seconds. If she had run with the men, what place would she have run?
