Nouns
Are either feminine, masculine, or neuter
1st declension: mostly feminine, a few masculine nouns that are "job" type nouns
2nd declension: masculine or neuter (neuter has a few different endings)
Are either singular or plural
Have a case based on how it's used in the sentence

Parts of the noun
When you see a noun in the vocab list, what does each thing mean?
ager, agrī, m.
The first word is the singular, nominative form (ager)
The second word is the singular, genitive form (agrī)
We get our noun stems from the singular, genitive. Just remove the genitive ending to get the stem. (agr-).
The gender of the noun is listed last (m = masculine)

Parts of the verb
cōgitō, cōgitāre, cōgitāvī, cōgitātum
These are the 4 Principal Parts
cōgitō - 1st person, singular, present, active
cōgitāre - active infinitive
We get verb stem from the active infinitive, by dropping the -re (cōgitā-)
cōgitāvī - 1st person, singular, perfect, active (a form of past tense)
cōgitātum - perfect, passive, participle
