Central Idea
The central idea is the “big point” or the most important idea that the writer is communicating to the reader.
A central idea is a main point that the author is making (also called a main idea or a key idea). In other words, a central idea is what the article is mostly about. You can think of a central idea as one sentence that states what the article is about

A paragraph contains facts, statements, examples-specifics which guide us to a full understanding of the main idea. They clarify, illuminate, explain, describe, expand and illustrate the main idea and are supporting details.
