Part #1 Práctica con "ir" continuado

Copy the vocabulary terms below. Then, using the formula "ir + a + place", write out the entire sentence, describing where one is going.

For example: if the sentence says "yo" and there is a picture of the river (el río), you would respond with "Yo voy al río."

Remember, when you have "a + el" such as "el río", it becomes "al".

La playa - the beach

La fiesta - the party

El Parque - the Park

Las montañas - the mountains

El cine - the theatre

If you need to review how to determinte whether a noun (person, place or thing) is masculine or feminine, watch the video on the follow slide and take some notes.

To summarize gender rules:

  • Nouns that end in "o" are generally masculine

  • Nouns that end in "a" generally feminine

  • Words that end in "ción", "sión", "dad", "tad", "tud", "umbre" are feminine

  • There are SOME RANDOM words that end in "o" that are feminine such as "la mano, "la radio"

  • There are SOME RANDOM words that end in "a" that are masculine such as "el día", "el planeta"

  • Words that end in "l" are normally "masculine" such as "el papel"

13

To summarize rules for number:

  • To make words plural that end in a vowel (a, e, i, o, u), add an "s"

  • To make words plural that end in a consonant (anything other than a vowel), add an "es"
