The chart shows the proportion of users of Twitter by age group from November 2010 to May 2013 in the USA.

Overall, it is clear that there is an upward trend in Twitter use with the greatest increase seen among those aged 18–29. For example, there was a substantial rise in the proportion of 18–29 year-olds using Twitter with a more than twofold increase from approximately 14% in November 2010 to 30% in May 2013. By contrast, while the use of Twitter among those aged 65+ was slightly upward with some noticeable fluctuations and a peak of about 6% in May 2011, their use constituted about 4% in November 2010 compared to 5% at the end of the period.

The rise in Twitter use among 30–49 year olds was dramatic, with an increase of more than 150% from about 7% to 17% in November 2010 and May 2013, respectively. Overall, it is clear that participation of both genders in the selected sports varied with jogging experiencing a significant increase. It is noticeable that whereas jogging, cross-country and road-running had the lowest level of participation among both genders, there was a significant increase in involvement. In 2008/09, participation among men was higher with a rise to 7.6% from 6.9% in 2005/06.

By contrast, the rise among women was much larger, to 4.8% in 2008/09 from 3.5% at the beginning of the period.

For indoor swimming or diving, while there was a slight decline in the proportion of male participation from 2005/06 to 2008/09, 13.3% to 13.0%, the drop in female engagement was greater, from 18.0% to 16.5% over the period. Task 1 (Unit 5) Page 207 - Model answer

The charts show projections for global production by sector in 2030 and 2050. Generally speaking, there is little change in the projected proportion of production by the various sectors in the two years, with manufacturing and services being the most dominant.

10

It is forecast that the services and manufacturing sectors together will account for more than three quarters of global production in 2030 and 2050, 80.8% (50.2% and 30.6%) and 84.3% (51.2% and 33.1%) respectively. By contrast, the proportion of production from energy is expected to decline from 6.7% in 2030 to 4.3% in 2050, a drop of approximately one third. It is also anticipated that there will be a similar dramatic drop for agriculture production from 4% to 2% with production in materials, by contrast, comprising 3.5% in 2050 compared to 2.9% in 2030.

11

As regards info-communications and technology, there is expected to be little difference in the proportion of production the sector constitutes, with a slight rise form 5.6% to 5.9% over the period.
