USE “BECAUSE” TO EXPRESS A REASON:

 He is the best student because he studies a lot.

        (result)   <———-  (reason)

Use because to connect two sentences, when the second sentence is the reason for the action in to the first sentence. This is the opposite of so.

•Take a look at these two sentences:

1.I brought my umbrella.

2.It was raining.

                  “I brought my umbrella because it was raining.”

Examples :

  • He was tired because he went to bed late. 

  • She was confused because she didn’t understand the lesson.

  • Ms. Lina was happy because she got presents. 

  • I was angry because my neighbor had a noisy party.  

  • My brother was embarrassed because he slipped on the ice.

USE “SO” TO EXPRESS A RESULT:

He studies a lot, so he is the best student.

  (reason)  ——–> (result) 

use so to connect two sentences, when the first sentence is the reason for the action in the second sentence.

2.I brought my umbrella.

                 “It was raining, so I brought my umbrella.”

  • Yesterday was a holiday, so we were so happy. 

  • She got the flu, so she had to stay in bed

  • Jane didn’t like the movie, so she turned off the TV.

  • My cat was hungry, so it ate a fish. 

  • •I was lost, so I asked for directions. 

Lesson 2 : "She was happy because she passed the test".
