>> Bir cümleyi söyledikten sonra karşı tarafın onayını almak için sorduğumuz '' öyle değil mi ?/ olmaz mı? '' şeklinde sorduğumuz sorun ekidir.

>> Türkçe'de biz bunu hemen her cümleye uyarlayarak söyleyebiliyoruz ama İngilizce'de durum böyle değil.

İngilizcede onaylama ifadesi için 3 şeye bakmalıyız :

1. Cümlenin zamanı

2. Cümlenin olumlu &olumsuz olması

3. Cümlenin öznesi

Şimdi örnek cümlelerle daha iyi anlayalım

'' O şu anda havuzda yüzüyor , öyle değil mi ?

'' She is swimming in the pool now , isn't she?''

1. My father was sleeping , wasn't he ?

( My father : he olarak yani zamir olarak yazılmalı !!!)

2.Your parents have been to Portugal before , haven't they ?

3. Veronica can play the piano very well, can't she ?

Peki ya ana cümle olumsuzsa ? >> o zaman da question tag kısmı olumlu yapılır.

1. You aren't going to Wendy's party this evening , are you ?

2. Your mother hasn't seen the holiday brochures , has she ?

3. Ali can't write and read the text , can he ?

Bazı yardımcı fiiller cümlede doğrudan görünmez. Biz bulup onu questıon tag kısmına eklemeliyiz

1. Hakan talked to our manager about the problem , didn't he ?

( geçmiş zaman yardımcı fiil : Did )

2. My father always comes home late, doesn't he ?

( geniş zaman yardımcı fiil :Do / Does )

3. Some of the students knew the answer, didn't they ?

( gecmiş zaman yardımcı fiili : Did )

(somebody :çoğul özne gibi düşünülmeli: birisi veya birileri )

( nobody :çoğul özne gibi düşünülmeli )

5. There is a terrible traffic jam here , isn't there ?

6. These are your keys , aren't they ?

7. I am right , aren't I ?

( I öznesinin yardımcı fiili am olmasına rağmen question taglarda are olur )

8. Our teacher never makes a mistake, does he ?

( Cümle never (hiç )ifadesinden dolayı anlamca olumsuzdur, question tag kısmı olumlu yapılmalı )

Question tag kalıbında bazı kural dışı ( istisnalar ) vardı ve I öznesinin yardımcı fiili am olmasına rağmen question tag'larda are kullanılır.

emir cümlelerinde will you kullanılır. istisnalardan birisidir.

14. Martin never asks for advice when he's in trouble,.........?

Cümle geniş zamana aittir ve never (hiç) ifadesi cümleyi olumsuz yapar . question tag kısmı olumlu olmalı.

geniş zamanın yardımcı fiiliieri : Do veya Does 'dır. Martin he zamiriyle kuuanılır bu yüzden does yardımcı fiilini kullanılıız .

15. Let's go to the Chinese restaurant to celebrate Helen's birthday ,...........?

shall we

let's ile başlayan question taglarda hep shall we kullanılır.
