THE CELL

All living things are made up of cells. They are very, very small and so important.

Cells may look very different from one to another, but there are four basic parts:

• NUCLEUS: controlls what happen inside the cell and contain all the genetic information.

• CYTOPLASM: jelly-like substance which help give the cell shape and is where all the structures are found.

• CELL MEMBRANE: controls the movements of substances in and out of cells

• VACUOLE: a storage space for the cell

There are two extra parts in plant cells that we cannot find in animal cells

• CELL WALL: gives structural support to the cell.

• CHLOROPLASTS: help the plant make food.
