What is long division?

WHAT IS A DIVIDEND, A DIVISOR AND QUOTIENT?

A dividend is the whole # being divided into parts. Also the number inside the division box

A divisor is the # you're diving by

The quotient is the ANSWER of a division problem

• 1. If needed rewrite the problem

• 2. divide

• 3. multiply

• 4. subtract

• if zero is your remainder you're done! if it's not add a DECIMAL and a ZERO and BRING IT DOWN
