Periods
The correct use of periods is tested on many questions involving fragments, run-ons, semicolons, colons, and commas.
Understanding the relationship between sentence structure and punctuation is key for many questions on the English Test.

Complete sentences end with a period. A complete sentence must have a subject (who or what does the action), a predicate (the action), and a complete idea.
Correct period placement will result in logical and complete sentences both before and after the punctuation.

The use of a period tells the reader that the two sentences are separate and distinct ideas.
If two ideas are closely related, they can also be linked within one sentence by semicolons or commas and transition words.
