Here is an easy to remember phrase, Every Good Boy Does Fine on the staff lines. Between the staff lines Face is spelled. No note will go past G, It will start over, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A etc.

An accidental is a note with a sharp, flat or natural in front of the note.
A flat symbol looks like a lowercase b
A sharp symbol looks like this #

A sharp is a half step higher than its regular note, such as A#.
A flat is a half step lower than its regular note, such as Ab.
