Lesson 3 - Intransitive verbs

Intransitive Verbs

Often, the verb simply tells us something about the subject itself: what it does, what it is, what it is like. the action described by the verb does not affect some other person or thing - it stops with the subject.

Examples:

• a. The man looks ill.

• b. The journey will be difficult.

• c. Javed become a doctor.

• d. The dog barked.

• e. Birds fly.

• f. John will play.

Explanations:

• In a, The man looks what? Ans: ill

• In b, The journey will be what? Ans: difficult

• In c, Javed become what? Ans: doctor

• In d, The dog what? Ans: barked

• In e, Birds what? Ans: fly

• In f, John will what? Ans: play
