The Ginnungagap

Before there was soil, or sky, or any green thing, there was only the gaping abyss of Ginnungagap.


There was absolutly nothing in thi place. Just darkness and space.


This chaos of perfect silence and darkness lay between the homeland of elemental fire, Muspelheim, and the homeland of elemental ice, Niflheim.

Creating The World

Odin and his brothers created the world from the body of Ymir.


The blood from his body made the rivers and sea.


The earth was made from his skin.


His skull was thrown into the Gannungagap to create the sky and his brains were cast into the sky to make the clouds.

Tree and vegetation was created by planting his hair.


His teeth, which had been broken in the fight, went to make the rocks and mountains.
