• Jews sound a shofar to signal the new year.

• It's purpose is to wake everybody up into action and make good choices for the new year.

• Listen to the video. You will hear the shofar being played. Could you try making this noise? (use your hands to make a horn shape)

Challah Bread

It is a special loaf eaten during Rosh Hashanah.

It represents the “circle of life”.

Apple and Honey

• During Rosh Hashanah Jews wish/hope for lots of things, and want it to be “a sweet year.”

• Part of the party / festival is to eat apple dipped in honey and wish / hope for “a sweet year.”
