Spelling rules
-s, -ss,- sh, ch, -x + -es match - matches,wash-washes
consonat +y (-by,- ry, -sy,-vy )+ es = hurry - hurries, study - studies, apply- applies
do -does, go- goes
y does not change if the word ends in a vowel + y ( -ay,-ey,- oy, uy):Play - plays, enjoy- enjoys, buy-buys

do : Do you go to school every day? Yes, I do. No, I don't.
does : Does he eat cupcakes every evening? Yes, he does. No, he doesn't.

habits and routines : I do my morning exercises every morning.
true Statements and facts: The Sun rises in the East
As future ( tiime tables, schedules, programmes at cinemas): The train to Vilnius leaves at 5 p.m. What time does the film begin? It' s Wednesday tomorrow.
State verbs (like, love, hate)
zero conditionals (If it rains, I take an umbrella ( facts and fact situations)
1st conditionals- if + present tense, then + future: If it rains, I will come home.
after adverbs of time: when, after, untill, as soon as, before ( when he arrives, I will be waiting for him)

Some other cases to use present simple
I promise/ suggest/ appologise/ advise/ insist/ agree/ refuse/ recommend: It' s a nice day. I suggest we go for a walk. I won't tell anubody what you said. I promise.
see, hear, smell, taste: we normally use present simple with these verbs not continuous:
Do you see that man over there? This room smells.
We use can +see/hear/smell/taste: Listen! Can you hear something?
You can use the present simple or continuous when you say how somebody looks or feels now: You look well today. or You are looking well. BUT! I usually feel tired in the morning.
