Value Added Agriculture

• In Trinidad and Tobago we produce many value added agricultural products.

• Value Added Agricultural products are those where we change the physical state or form of the product (making guava into jam, sorrel into juice, pepper into pepper sauce)

• It is the production of a product in a manner that enhances its value

Is our food secure?

• Food is a resource that we need.

• We can produce food or import it from other countries.

• Trinidad and Tobago has a high food import bill but our country aims to develop Agro business and especially value added agriculture

• This will ensure that we are always able to produce what our country needs.

• The ability to provide access to adequate, nutritious, safe and affordable food to all people at all times is called food security.
