Subject and Object Pronouns

  • Always use a subject pronoun when replacing the subject of a sentence. Also use a subject pronoun to replace a noun that follows a form of the verb to be

  • My favorite author is Mary Mast.

  • My favorite author is she.

  • Use an object pronoun only after an action verb or a preposition.

  • Do not use a reflexive pronoun such as myself in place of a personal pronoun such as I or me. Never add -self to a subject pronoun.
