Place Value

  • Three-digit numbers have 3 digits, each with a place value. We can organize these numbers in a hundreds, tens, and ones mat to show their place value.

  • ex. If we have the number 300, 3 is in the hundreds place, 0 is in the tens place and 0 is in the ones place.

  • We can use flats, rods, and units to represent three-digit numbers. A flat has a value of 100, a rod has a value of 10, and a unit has a value of 1.
